Historically, the ancient Romans and Greeks were the first to mine and use onyx in their adornments and in decorations. According to ancient myth, Eros/Cupid was clipping the fingernails of goddess Venus while she was slept by the Indus River. When the clippings fell into the river the Fates turned them into Onyx, thus ensuring that no part of the heavenly body would ever perish. Pure black with a glossy shine, Black Onyx makes us feel immortal as well.
