Called “the gem of the sun” by the ancient Egyptians, bright, clean green Peridot has both earthly and extraterrestrial origins. Some Peridot forms almost 2000 miles below the earth’s surface in the molten lava of the mantle, while other crystals of Peridot are found in rare pallasite meteorites formed some 4.5 billion years ago, remnants of our solar system’s birth. The color of Spring and freshly cut grass, Peridot was often mistaken for Emerald in ancient times, but we think this beautiful green gem stands on it’s own.
